This lion is my new version of my 2015 lion ‘Pride’ of similar reference photo and size. This time the reference photo I used was purchased from wildlife photographer Tazi Brown. In this piece I aimed to encapsulate my signature charcoal practice - dark, soft, moving fur, realism grade detail, an emotional expression, all composed thoughtfully to create an expressive, emotive and well balanced visual experience.
