Mother Nature

101x121cm

Charcoal on paper

2018

This charcoal drawing was drawn from a combination of two reference photos I took at Taronga Zoo in Sydney. I absolutely love watching primate mothers care for their young, especially gorillas. I hope that through this piece, viewers are reminded of how similar our two species are and see even more value in how important the conservation of this magnificent species is. My favourite part of this drawing, which took over 70 hours, is the mother delicately holding her infants hand in her own.
